4 Networking Events for Small Businesses in Leeds
Networking events are a great way to grow your business. They provide the perfect environment to create a local network of potential clients and like-minded people, while learning and developing important business skills.
As one of the UK’s leading cities for businesses, Leeds has a number of networking events for local companies to attend. Read on as we look at four of the best networking events in Leeds.
Ignite BNI is a dedicated networking group for Leeds and the surrounding areas that was launched in 2018. With over 50 members in their first year, the group generated almost £500,000 of business in their first year. They also reported an average increase in business of 20% for their members.
Ignite BNI is ideal for anyone that wants to meet new people in the business world for support, inspiration and potential business ties. The group meet every Thursday morning, from 6.30am-9am at the Village Hotel in Headingley – and it’s just £10 to attend as a visitor.
The West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce is a Leeds-based organisation accredited by the British Chambers of Commerce. It’s set up to help individuals and companies improve business performance through networking, intelligence, support and representation.
Each month, the Chamber holds a monthly Pure Networking breakfast at Leeds United’s Elland Road, which lasts around two hours from 7.30-9.30am. Sessions begin with informal networking, followed by structured table networking, with shuffles allowing you to move around the room several times.
The networking space also includes 7 ‘profile raiser’ spaces, where member-only businesses can bring a banner and leaflets or flyers. It costs £36 for non-members or £21 for members.
Founded in 2008, the Yorkshire Mafia is one of the most well-established business networks in Leeds and the surrounding areas. The group has over 22,000 approved members and has been featured in a range of renowned publications. They’ve also generated over £75 million for the regional economy.
Interestingly, membership is held exclusively on LinkedIn, where applicants must have an active profile and provide a statement explaining their value to the community. Once you’re a member, the Mafia holds a range of events for general networking or specific sectors, with a relaxed, sales-free environment.
Initially a network dedicated to the Property and Construction sector, Brand Yorkshire has expanded with a networking club that’s open to all sectors. Their events are held at the Village Hotel in Headingley, on the second Friday of each month, and cost £15 to non-members or £12 to members.
Each session lasts around two hours and includes breakfast, introductions, members’ spotlight, one-to-one with fellow members and special presentations or guest speakers. You’re allowed to attend one session before purchasing membership, which costs £299 a year plus VAT for access to 51,000 contacts.
